Lourdes College proudly celebrates the achievement of its Business Administration students who emerged as 2nd Runner-Up in the Inter-Mindanao Finance Competition, held on January 17, 2026, at Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. The event brought together top-performing students from various higher education institutions across Mindanao, making the competition both rigorous and highly prestigious.

The contest was participated in by Capitol University, Liceo de Cagayan University, Bukidnon State University, La Salle University – Ozamiz, and Tagoloan Community College, alongside the host institution. Each school fielded teams prepared to tackle demanding finance-related challenges that tested both theoretical knowledge and practical decision-making skills.

Representing Lourdes College were BSBS third-year students Jhane Pearl Matuguina, Jenipher Macareal, and Desiree Karl Badoles, together with BSBA second-year students Claudio Glenn Mariquit and Precious Lara Cantano. Despite facing competitors from well-established universities, the team demonstrated composure, strong analytical ability, and effective teamwork. Finance professor, Ms. Kenneth Chandria Parangan coached the team.

The activity was organized by the Xavier University Junior Finance Executives, a student-led organization committed to promoting financial literacy, professional exposure, and academic excellence among finance and business students. Through this initiative, participants were immersed in real-world finance problems that went beyond textbooks, allowing them to experience how financial concepts are applied in practical and competitive environments.

Activities such as this play a vital role in student formation. They help bridge the gap between theory and practice, build confidence, and cultivate critical thinking, discipline, and ethical competitiveness. More importantly, they expose students to professional standards early in their academic journey, preparing them for future careers in finance, banking, entrepreneurship, and related fields.

The college commends the students for their dedication and outstanding performance, as well as the faculty members who continuously mentor and support them. This achievement reflects Lourdes College’s ongoing commitment to holistic education and its mission to develop competent, competitive, and values-driven graduates ready to excel in regional and national arenas.
