On May 7, 2025, the undergraduate and MBA students recently participated in the 4th Lourdes College Institutional Students Research Forum held at the main campus in Cagayan de Oro City. With the theme “Knowledge in Motion: Student-Led Research for Sustainable Development,” the forum brought together student researchers from various institutions to present innovative studies aligned with sustainable and community-focused goals.

The forum featured multiple concurrent sessions, where students engaged in academic exchange and presented their findings before panels of evaluators and fellow researchers. These sessions provided an excellent opportunity to showcase not only the depth and relevance of student research but also their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world challenges.

We are proud to commend the active participation of our 4th-year undergraduate and MBA students. Their research topics covered diverse areas—ranging from education and social development to business practices and environmental sustainability showcasing their commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility.

A special recognition was given to Ms. Gesel Somo and Ms. Meika Daulong, who were awarded as Best Visual Presenters. Their ability to effectively translate research content into engaging and well-structured visual presentations reflected both creativity and strong communication skills. This award is a significant acknowledgment of their efforts in ensuring that their research not only informs but also resonates with audiences.

Advancing Research for Sustainable Development

The forum’s theme emphasizes the importance of empowering students as contributors to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through platforms such as this, students are given the opportunity to take active roles in research-driven solutions that address local and global issues. It reflects the growing recognition of student research as a powerful tool for societal transformation.

Our institution remains committed to supporting a culture of research that develops critical thinkers, ethical scholars, and proactive leaders. Participation in academic forums is part of our broader goal to train students who are not only academically competent but also socially engaged and globally aware.

An Experience to Behold…

We extend our warmest congratulations to all student participants, and especially to Ms. Somo and Ms. Daulong for their well-deserved recognition. Their success is a testament to the hard work, mentorship, and institutional support that drives our research efforts.

We also extend our appreciation to Lourdes College Research, Planning and Development Office (RPDO) for organizing this enriching forum and for providing a space where young researchers can learn, collaborate, and grow.

As we continue to encourage student-led research, we look forward to more opportunities where our students can share their work, contribute to meaningful discussions, and help shape a more sustainable future.
