In today’s fast-paced world, stress has become an unavoidable part of student life, especially for those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). Recognizing the need to equip students with essential skills to manage stress effectively, Lourdes College Business Education Program hosted a seminar titled “Stress Less, Live More: Mastering the Art of Balance” on February 19, 2025, at the Lourdes College AVR.
The seminar was graced by an esteemed guest speaker, Ms. Kimberly Joy Sanchez, MAPsych, the Dean of the Arts and Sciences Program. With her expertise in psychology and years of experience in student development, Ms. Sanchez delivered an insightful discussion on stress management strategies, the importance of mental well-being, and the significance of achieving a balanced life.
Understanding Stress and Finding Balance
Ms. Sanchez began the seminar by shedding light on the causes and effects of stress, particularly among business students who often juggle academic pressures, extracurricular activities, and personal responsibilities. She emphasized that, while stress is a natural response to challenges, unmanaged stress can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and emotional exhaustion.
To help students navigate these challenges, she introduced practical techniques to reduce stress, including:
✅ Time Management Techniques – Prioritizing tasks, setting realistic goals, and avoiding procrastination.
✅ Mindfulness and Relaxation Practices – Breathing exercises, meditation, and staying present in the moment.
✅ Healthy Lifestyle Choices – The role of proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep in stress reduction.
✅ Positive Thinking and Self-Care – Developing a growth mindset, engaging in hobbies, and setting boundaries.
Interactive Learning and Student Engagement
The seminar was not just a lecture but an engaging and interactive session. Students participated in self-assessment activities, allowing them to reflect on their current stress levels and identify stress triggers. One of the highlights was a guided relaxation exercise, where students practiced breathing techniques to calm their minds and bodies. Many attendees expressed how refreshing and enlightening the session was, providing them with a newfound perspective on stress management.
Empowering Future Business Leaders
The seminar concluded with an inspiring message from Ms. Sanchez: “Success is not just about working hard; it’s about working smart and taking care of your well-being. Learning how to manage stress today will help you become a more resilient and effective leader tomorrow.”
The event was a resounding success, leaving BSBA students with valuable skills to handle academic and personal stress effectively. By applying the principles of balance and mindfulness in their daily lives, they are now better equipped to face challenges with confidence and embrace a healthier, more fulfilling journey in their academic and professional careers.
As Lourdes College continues to support holistic student development, this seminar marks another step toward empowering students to stress less and live more.
